COURSE B -

 

FIRE WARDEN/MARSHAL INSTRUCTION

 

APPLICABLE TO:     FIRE WARDENS/MARSHALS

DURATION:               1 .5 HOURS

 

All premises must nominate a ‘Responsible Officer’ to carry out the role of Fire Warden and manage the fire protection for the premises.  If required Sub-Wardens/Marshals can be appointed to manage specific parts of the premises such as individual floors or specific areas.

 

This course provides the additional knowledge required to carry out a Fire Warden/Marshals role.

 

This course covers instruction on the following:

  • Introduction to fire protection equipment such as: indicator panels, call points, fire detectors, emergency lighting and any auxiliary equipment connected to the fire detection system

  • Maintaining documentation and log books

  • Actions to be taken on discovering a fire or hearing the fire alarm

  • The purpose of fire resisting doors and their identification

  • Familiarity with escape routes and their demarcation

  • Evacuation of the building and location of assembly points
