YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A CHILDMINDER

We understand the increased responsibility you have whilst looking after someone else’s children. The requirements for the Childcare Register issued by OFSTED, states “The registered person must ensure that the children receiving childcare are kept safe from harm” and “the registered person must undertake a risk assessment of the premises and equipment at least once a year, and immediately, where the need arises. These rules apply to both domestic and non-domestic premises being used to provide childminding.

Please Remember, You could be fined or go to prison if you do not follow fire safety regulations.

 

Your Responsibilities

As the “Registered Person” you must:

  • Follow safety regulations

  • Ensure a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is carried out and is reviewed regularly

  • Have an emergency evacuation plan

  • Provide appropriate firefighting equipment such as fire alarms and extinguishers

  • Ensure there is access to escape routes at all times and that the escape routes are free from hazards

  • Ensure any staff are suitably trained
